Katharine Zaleski escritora de la revista política en línea The Huffington Post pone al descubierto como las mentiras se propagan entre agrupaciones anti-inmigrantes.
Explica Katharine que un website imitando el formato del sitio CNN headlines publico una nota donde se aseguraba que grupos separatistas hispanos admitían responsabilidad por los fuegos en California. Varios grupos anti-inmigrantes tomaron la nota como verdadera y comenzaron a especular y propagarla como verdad. Al darse cuenta que fue un engaño algunos de los websites comenzaron a borrar los comentarios dejados por sus miembros.
